Chapter 3 - Working for our Organisation

Chapter 3 - Working for our Organisation

Our Staff and our Organisation

We want to continuously improve the capability of our Organisation by selecting and recruiting the right staff and by training and developing them to reach their full potential. We want to support our staff in their work by ensuring that they have a sense of purpose and clarity about their roles which derives from our Mission Statement and our Organisation's values. We want to foster a pleasant and productive working environment which achieves a sensible balance between work and home life through the operation of family-friendly policies.

Credibility
We will maintain effective relations with both public bodies and with our clients.

We will ensure that our business is conducted fairly and effectively.

Helpful
We will make it easy for people to do business with us and avoid undue formality.

Our Goals

By working with our staff and by adopting best practice in relation to HRM strategy we intend to achieve the following:

  • A greater emphasis on the needs of our staff: We will encourage, train and develop our staff because we believe that high performance is the result of people who care.
  • The development of leadership competencies in managers: We will help our managers at all levels in the Organisation to develop their staff and encourage commitment. We will enable them to encourage collaborative working and to foster communication both vertically and horizontally within the Organisation.
  • The fostering of innovative work styles: We will enable staff to be creative problem solvers who, in return for displaying commitment, are encouraged to be self reliant with greater control and decision making powers.
  • A stronger client orientation: We will help staff to develop the skills to deal confidently and effectively with our clients and, in so doing, we will help staff to appreciate the crucial importance of the client in relation to our Organisation and enable them to derive satisfaction from serving our clients' needs.
  • A greater focus on optimum performance: We will facilitate greater awareness among staff of the Organisation's values and we will encourage staff at all levels to always seek improvement in the Organisation's performance. Chapter Four outlines the HRM strategies which will be put in place to deliver on our objectives.
